2008 Seattle Snowstorm

Apparently, 2008 wants to go out with a bang. It did so in spectacular fashion in Seattle between Wednesday 12/17 and Monday 12/22 by first sending a blast of cold air down from Canada that sent temperatures dropping below freezing starting on the 14th, then dumping all the snow it could muster across the area. This was no lily-livered dusting that freaks everyone out like OTHER Seattle snowstorms – this was the real deal. Raging River crests its banks in my back yard

This is the result of the non-stop downpour all night last night and the last several days. I shot this video this morning at 7:30 as I was leaving for work. The volume was then at 1,630 cubic feet per second and it was still raining, but on the way down at 30 cfs/hr. As of 3:30 it has dropped to 1070 and is dropping at 120 cfs/hr, but is supposed to pick up again as the rain resumes later tonight.

This is what it normally looks like:

Reviewing my absentee voter ballot…

So are you caving in to the two-party system and accepting these two lousy candidates?  I’m not giving either one of them my vote, and there are lots of other choices on the ballot in Washington State.  A year ago I would’ve voted for Ron Paul, but he chose poorly and tried to seek the Republikan party nomination when he should’ve gone for the Libertarian party.  Now he’s dropped out altogether and endorsed Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution party.

The only two choices on the ballot I’m considering are Chuck Baldwin and Bob Barr.  Two of the others actually have “Socialist” in their Party names and the other is Ralph Nader.  No thanks.
