What does it take to save a capsized ship like the Costa Concordia?
I read the news today that said a South African company had successfully righted the Costa Concordia off the shore of Giglio, Italy. It reminded me of an article I’d posted here in 2008 of the righting of the Cougar Ace cargo ship, when it capsized off the Aleutian Islands in Alaska after a failed attempt to flush and refill the ballast tanks. What it takes to pull it off is a team of truly extraordinary people using some extremely obscure talents and machinery.
